If you are locked out of WordPress, there are several ways to reset your admin password and get back in. This guide covers them, from the simplest to the more technical.
Option 1: The “Lost your password?” link #
- Go to your login page and click Lost your password?
- Enter your username or email.
- Follow the reset link emailed to you.
This is the easiest method and works whenever you can receive email at your account address.
Option 2: Reset via phpMyAdmin #
If the reset email does not arrive, you can change the password directly in the database:
- Open phpMyAdmin from your hosting control panel.
- Busca el wp_users table.
- Edit your user and set a new value for user_pass, choosing the MD5 function so it is encrypted.
- Save, then log in with the new password.
Option 3: Check your email settings #
If reset emails never arrive, your site may not be sending mail correctly. Confirm the account email is right, check spam, and consider an SMTP plugin so WordPress sends reliably.
