Keeping an eye on your disk space and bandwidth helps you avoid surprises, such as a full account or hitting a traffic limit. DirectAdmin shows both clearly. This guide explains where to find them and what to do if you are running low.
Where usage is shown #
When you log in to DirectAdmin, your main dashboard displays your current usage against your plan’s limits, typically including:
- Disk space: how much storage your files, databases, and email use.
- Bandbreedte: how much data has been transferred this period.
- Other limits: such as the number of email accounts or databases.
Understanding disk usage #
Disk space is consumed by website files, databases, emails, and backups. Email and old backups are common culprits when space runs low. You can drill into usage using the File Manager and the email account list to see where space is going.
Understanding bandwidth #
Bandwidth is the data sent to visitors. High-traffic sites or large media files use more. If you are approaching your limit, optimising images and enabling caching and a CDN can reduce it.
If you are running low #
- Delete old backups and large unused files.
- Clear full mailboxes and empty Trash/Junk.
- Optimise images and enable caching to cut bandwidth.
- Consider upgrading your plan if you consistently run close to the limits.
Problemen oplossen #
- Usage seems high: check email and backups first, as they add up.
- Site went offline near a limit: free up space or upgrade, then try again.
