If a specific IP address is causing problems, such as spam or abusive traffic, you can block it with cPanel’s IP Blocker so it can no longer reach your site. This guide explains how.
When to block an IP #
- Persistent spam or abusive form submissions.
- Repeated suspicious activity from one address.
- A known source of unwanted traffic.
Blocking an address #
- Faça login no cPanel.
- No Segurança seção, abrir IP Blocker.
- Enter the IP address or range to block.
- Clique em Add.
Blocking a range #
You can block a range as well as a single address, which helps when abuse comes from many nearby IPs. Be careful, as blocking too broadly can shut out legitimate visitors.
Unblocking #
To reverse a block, return to IP Blocker, find the entry, and remove it.
A word of caution #
- Never block your own IP, or you will lock yourself out.
- Blocking is a blunt tool; determined abusers change IPs.
- Combine with strong passwords and security plugins for logins.
Solução de problemas #
- Locked yourself out: contact support to remove the block.
- Abuse continues: pair blocking with spam filtering.
