DNS records tell the internet where to send visitors and email for your domain. In DirectAdmin you can add or edit records such as A, CNAME, MX, and TXT. Here is how to manage them safely.
Opening the DNS Management tool #
- Log in to DirectAdmin (usually yourdomain.com:2222).

- Select the domain you want to edit if you have more than one.
Common record types explained #
- A record: points a domain or subdomain to an IPv4 address.
- CNAME: points one name to another name (an alias).
- MX: directs email to your mail server.
- TXT: holds text values, often used for SPF, DKIM, and domain verification.
Adding a record #
- In DNS Management, find the section for the record type you need.
- Enter the name (or host), the value, and, where shown, the TTL.
- Clique em Add to save.
Editing or deleting a record #
- Locate the record in the list.
- Use the edit option to change its value, or select it and delete it.

Important tips #
- Changes can take up to a few hours to spread across the internet (DNS propagation).
- Be careful with MX records, since mistakes can stop email delivery.
- Note the original value before editing, so you can revert if needed.
- For SPF and DKIM, follow the exact values your email provider gives you.

- Site not resolving: confirm the A record points to the correct IP.
- Email issues: re-check MX and SPF records.
- Changes not visible yet: allow time for propagation before assuming something is wrong.
