Yoast SEO is one of the most popular plugins for improving your WordPress site’s search visibility. It helps you set titles, meta descriptions, and more, and gives feedback as you write. This guide covers installing and setting it up.
Installing Yoast SEO #

- Focus keyphrase: the main term you want the page to rank for.
- SEO title: the title shown in search results.
- Meta description: the summary shown under the title in search results.
Aim for a meta description around 150 characters that includes your keyphrase and a clear benefit.
Using the analysis feedback #
Yoast shows red, orange, and green signals for SEO and readability. Treat them as helpful guidance, not strict rules; aim for green where it makes sense, but always write for people first.

- Control over which content search engines index.
- Social preview settings for how pages look when shared.
