Before AutoDJ can keep your station on air, it needs a library of music to play. Uploading your tracks correctly, with good file quality and proper tags, makes the difference between a polished station and one with missing song names or awkward gaps. This guide explains how to add your music to AutoDJ the right way.
Preparing your files #
A little preparation before uploading saves a lot of tidying up later. Aim for consistent, well-tagged files:
- Format: MP3 is the safest, most widely supported choice.
- Bitrate: use good-quality source files, ideally at least 128 kbps.
- Tags: fill in the artist and title (ID3 tags) so they display correctly on your stream.
- File names: clear, consistent names help you stay organised.
Uploading through the control panel #
For a handful of tracks, the built-in uploader is the quickest route:
- Log in to your radio control panel and open the AutoDJ or Media section.
- Choose the upload option and select your files.
- Wait for the upload and processing to finish.
- Confirm the tracks appear in your media library.
Uploading a large library via FTP #
If you have hundreds of tracks, uploading them one by one is slow. Many radio panels support FTP for bulk uploads:
- Get your FTP details from the radio control panel.
- Connect with an FTP client such as FileZilla.
- Upload your files into the designated media folder.
- Return to the control panel and rescan or import the media so AutoDJ recognises the new files.
Organising your music #
Once uploaded, group your tracks into playlists or categories so you can control what plays and when. Well-organised libraries make it easy to build themed shows, schedule different playlists for different times, and keep your rotation fresh. Enabling shuffle avoids the same songs always playing in the same order.
Troubleshooting #
- Tracks missing titles: fix the ID3 tags in the files and re-upload.
- Files not appearing: after an FTP upload, rescan or import the media in the panel.
- Upload fails or times out: use FTP for large batches instead of the web uploader.
