How to Connect Mixxx to a SHOUTcast or Icecast Server

Mixxx is a free, open-source DJ application that also doubles as broadcasting software, letting you mix tracks live and stream them straight to your SHOUTcast or Icecast server. Before you start #

Have your server details from your radio control panel ready:

Server type: SHOUTcast or Icecast.
Hostname or IP and port.
Source password.
For Icecast, the mount point and often a login (commonly source).

Opening the broadcasting settings #

Open Mixxx and go to Preferences.
Select the Live Broadcasting section.
Enable broadcasting and add a new connection if needed.

Entering your server details #

In the Live Broadcasting settings, fill in the fields to match your server:

Type: choose Icecast 2 or SHOUTcast to match your server.
Host: your server hostname or IP.
Port: your stream port.
Mount: the mount point (Icecast), for example /stream.
