phpMyAdmin is a visual tool for managing your MySQL databases. You can browse tables, run queries, and import or export data without using the command line. Here is how to reach and use it in DirectAdmin.
Opening phpMyAdmin #
- Log in to DirectAdmin (usually yourdomain.com:2222).
- Go to Account Manager and click MySQL Management.
- Find your database and click the phpMyAdmin link next to it.
- Log in with the database username and password.
Finding your way around #
- Left panel: lists your databases and their tables.
- Structure tab: shows the tables and columns.
- Browse tab: lets you view and edit rows.
- SQL tab: lets you run queries directly.
Exporting a database (backup) #
- Select the database in the left panel.
- Click the Export tab.
- Choose the Quick method and SQL format.
- Click Go to download the .sql file.
Importing a database #
- Select the target database.
- Click the Import tab.
- Choose your .sql file and click Go.
If the file is large, you may need to compress it (.zip or .gz) first.
