How do I create an email forwarder in cPanel?

An email forwarder sends a copy of every message from one address to another. It is ideal for routing an address like [email protected] to your personal inbox or sharing incoming mail with a colleague. This guide explains how in cPanel.

Creating a forwarder #

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. In the Email section, open Forwarders.
  3. Click Add Forwarder.
  4. Enter the address to forward from and the destination address.
  5. Click Add Forwarder to save.

Forwarding to multiple people #

To send an address to several recipients, create a forwarder for each destination, or use a forwarder that points to a mailing list. Each recipient then receives a copy of incoming mail.

Keeping a copy too #

A pure forwarder does not store mail locally. If you want to both keep and forward messages, first create a normal mailbox for the address, then add a forwarder to the external destination as well.

Troubleshooting #

  • Forwarded mail missing: check the destination address and its spam folder.
  • Marked as spam: forwarding can affect scoring; consider adding the account to a mail app directly.
  • Loop: never forward an address to itself.
