Where usage is shown #
The cPanel sidebar shows a Statistics panel with your disk usage against your plan’s allowance. For a detailed breakdown, use the Disk Usage tool.
Using the Disk Usage tool #
- Log in to cPanel.
- In the Files section, open Disk Usage.
- Review which folders and files use the most space.
Common space users #
- Email: large mailboxes and attachments add up.
- Backups: old backups can consume a lot.
- Media: images and videos in your site.
- Logs and caches: can grow over time.
Freeing up space #
- Delete old backups and unused large files.
- Clear full mailboxes and empty Trash/Junk.
- Optimise or offload large media.
- Upgrade your plan if you consistently run close to the limit.
Troubleshooting #
- Usage higher than expected: check email and backups first.
- Site or email stopped: free space or upgrade, then retry.
