How do I move my website from WordPress.com to Disoh hosting?

2 min read

If your website is currently hosted on WordPress.com, you can move it to Disoh hosting to enjoy more flexibility, full control, and faster performance with our NVMe-powered servers. The process involves exporting your content from WordPress.com and importing it into WordPress on your Disoh hosting account.

Steps to migrate your WordPress.com site #

  1. Export your content from WordPress.com
    • Log in to your WordPress.com dashboard.
    • Go to Tools → Export.
    • Choose All Content and click Download Export File.
    • This will generate a .xml file with your posts, pages, comments, and settings.
  2. Set up WordPress on Disoh
    • Log in to your Disoh hosting control panel (DirectAdmin or cPanel).
    • Install WordPress using the one-click installer.
    • Once installed, log in to your new WordPress site (usually at yourdomain.com/wp-admin).
  3. Import your content
    • In your new WordPress dashboard, go to Tools → Import.
    • Select WordPress Importer (install it if needed).
    • Upload the .xml file you downloaded from WordPress.com.
    • Assign posts to your user and import attachments if you want your media files copied.
  4. Check your design and plugins
    • Themes and plugins from WordPress.com do not automatically transfer.
    • You can install your preferred theme and plugins directly from the WordPress repository or upload custom ones.
  5. Update your domain
    • If you own a domain through WordPress.com, you can transfer it to Disoh or update its DNS to point to our servers.
    • Our support team can assist you with the DNS change.

Important notes #

  • Would you like to have the entire site migrated for you? Start a live chat or open a support ticket, and our heroes will do it for you for free.
  • After migration, test your website carefully to ensure all pages, media, and links are working.
