Connecting your cPanel mailbox to Microsoft Outlook lets you send and receive from your own domain in a familiar desktop app. This guide walks through the setup.
The settings you need #
In cPanel, use Email Accounts > Connect Devices to find:
- Incoming (IMAP): your mail server, port 993, SSL/TLS.
- Outgoing (SMTP): your mail server, port 465, SSL/TLS.
- Username: your full email address.
Adding the account #
- In Outlook, go to File > Add Account.
- Enter your email address and choose to set it up manually.
- Select IMAP.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing servers and ports.
- Use your full email address as the username, enter the password, and finish.
IMAP vs POP #
Choose IMAP so your mail stays in sync across all devices. POP downloads and often removes messages from the server, which can cause them to disappear from your phone or webmail.
Troubleshooting #
- Cannot connect: re-check servers, ports, and SSL.
- Sending fails: confirm SMTP port 465 with SSL and authentication.
- Password prompts: use the full email address as the username.
