How to Set Up Your Email in Mozilla Thunderbird

< 1 min read

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, powerful email program for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Adding your Disoh mailbox to it is quick. This guide covers the settings and steps.

The settings you need #

  • Incoming (IMAP): your mail server, port 993, SSL/TLS.
  • Outgoing (SMTP): your mail server, port 465, SSL/TLS.
  • Username: your full email address.

Adding the account #

  1. Open Thunderbird and go to Account Settings > Account Actions > Add Mail Account.
  2. Enter your name, full email address, and password.
  3. Click Configure manually.
  4. Set both incoming and outgoing to the servers and ports above, with SSL/TLS and normal password authentication.
  5. Click Done to finish.

Why choose IMAP #

IMAP keeps your mail on the server and in sync across devices, so Thunderbird shows the same mailbox as your phone or webmail. It is the recommended choice.

Troubleshooting #

  • Auto-config wrong: use “Configure manually” and enter the details yourself.
  • Cannot send: confirm the SMTP server, port 465, and SSL.
  • Password rejected: use the full email address as the username.
