This guide covers both securing who can listen and securing who can broadcast.<\/p>\n<h2>Two kinds of security to think about<\/h2>\n<p>It helps to separate two distinct concerns, because they are handled differently:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Source security:<\/strong> protecting the password that lets someone broadcast to your server.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Listener access:<\/strong> controlling who is allowed to tune in and hear the stream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Protecting your source (broadcast) password<\/h2>\n<p>Your source password is what lets broadcasting software connect and put audio on air. If it leaks, someone else could hijack your stream.
