Een subdomein is een afzonderlijk onderdeel van je hoofddomein dat functioneert als een eigen website, met een voorvoegsel voor je domeinnaam. Bekende voorbeelden zijn blog.jouwdomein.com<\/em>, shop.uwdomein.com<\/em>, of support.uwdomein.com<\/em>. Je kunt gratis subdomeinen aanmaken onder je bestaande domein; dit is een handige manier om verschillende onderdelen van je online aanwezigheid te ordenen zonder dat je een geheel nieuw domein hoeft te registreren.<\/p>\n

Waarom zou je een subdomein gebruiken?<\/h2>\n

Met subdomeinen kun je verwante maar toch afzonderlijke inhoud gescheiden houden, zowel voor bezoekers als voor zoekmachines. Ze zijn handig wanneer een deel van je website een eigen doel, doelgroep of software heeft. Typische toepassingen zijn onder meer:<\/p>\n

  • Een blog:<\/strong> blog.jouwdomein.com wordt apart gehouden van je belangrijkste marketingpagina\u2019s.<\/li>\n
  • Een webwinkel:<\/strong> shop.jouwdomein.com, waarop e-commercesoftware draait.<\/li>\n
  • Een helpcentrum:<\/strong> support.uwdomein.com of docs.uwdomein.com.<\/li>\n
  • Een testomgeving of proefomgeving:<\/strong> dev.jouwdomein.com om wijzigingen veilig uit te proberen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Omdat een subdomein een eigen applicatie kan draaien, kun je bijvoorbeeld WordPress op je hoofddomein hosten en een heel andere tool op een subdomein.<\/p>\n

    Hoe maak je een subdomein aan?<\/h2>\n

    Het aanmaken van een subdomein kost slechts een minuutje via je configuratiescherm. De exacte benamingen verschillen enigszins tussen DirectAdmin en cPanel, maar de werkwijze is hetzelfde:<\/p>\n

    • Log in op uw configuratiescherm.<\/li>\n
    • Open de Subdomeinen<\/strong> of Domeinen<\/strong> paragraaf.<\/li>\n
    • Voer het gewenste voorvoegsel in, bijvoorbeeld blog<\/em>.<\/li>\n
    • Geef de map (documentroot) op waarin de bestanden zullen worden opgeslagen.<\/li>\n
    • Sla op, en het subdomein wordt aangemaakt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Uw configuratiescherm voegt automatisch het DNS-record toe dat nodig is om het subdomein te laten werken, dus u hoeft meestal verder niets meer in te stellen.<\/p>\n

      Inhoud toevoegen aan je subdomein<\/h2>\n

      Elk subdomein heeft een eigen map op de server. Om het subdomein in te richten, upload je bestanden naar die map of installeer je daar een applicatie. Als je WordPress op je subdomein wilt gebruiken, kun je een installatieprogramma met \u00e9\u00e9n muisklik gebruiken en gewoon het subdomein als installatielocatie kiezen. Vergeet niet SSL voor het subdomein in te schakelen, zodat het ook veilig wordt geladen met het hangslotje.<\/p>\n

      Subdomein versus submap<\/h2>\n

      Misschien vraag je je af of je beter een subdomein (blog.jouwdomein.com) of een submap (jouwdomein.com\/blog) kunt gebruiken. Beide opties zijn mogelijk. Een submap houdt alles binnen \u00e9\u00e9n website en is vaak eenvoudiger vanuit SEO-oogpunt, terwijl een subdomein de voorkeur geniet wanneer het gedeelte afzonderlijk moet draaien of andere software moet gebruiken. Maak je keuze op basis van hoe onafhankelijk het gedeelte moet zijn.<\/p>\n
