Databases are accessed by users, and each user has privileges that control what it can do. Managing these in cPanel lets you give applications and people the right level of access, no more and no less. This guide explains how.<\/p>\n

Where to manage users<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Log in to cPanel.<\/li>\n
  2. In the Tietokannat<\/strong> section, open MySQL Databases<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Scroll to MySQL Users<\/strong> to add users, and to Add User to Database<\/strong> to assign them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Adding a user<\/h2>\n

    • Create a user with a strong password under MySQL Users.<\/li>\n
    • Assign it to the relevant database.<\/li>\n
    • Choose the privileges it should have.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Choosing privileges<\/h2>\n

      Grant only what is needed. A typical application user needs data privileges such as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE. Reserve administrative privileges for cases that genuinely require them. Minimal privileges are safer.<\/p>\n

      Removing or changing access<\/h2>\n

      • Change a user’s privileges by re-opening its assignment to the database.<\/li>\n
      • Remove a user that is no longer needed.<\/li>\n
      • Update the password if it may have been exposed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • App cannot connect:<\/strong> confirm the user is assigned with the right privileges.<\/li>\n
        • Access denied errors:<\/strong> re-check the username, password, and host.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
